It’s Cool to be 9!

I can’t believe my sweet little girl is one year older!  Wasn’t it just yesterday that I brought her home all wrapped up in that pink cotton blanket? (which I still have by the way…)  One vivd memory of that day in August when she came home with us was that it is exactly the same 9 years later… soooo…unbelievably…HOT!!! Having the luxury of a summer birthday isn’t always a good thing when you live in Texas.  The over 100 degreetemperatures made us forgo the pool party this year and head indoors…to the ice rink!  How fun it was to plan this party, because we brought winter to Texas and it was soooo cool! (yep, pun intended)  We made snowflake royal icing transfers, put them on our sugar cookies and dusted them with disco dust (I have a “thing” for it… I mean I could literally justify using it on everything we make!)  Yummy lemon cake balls and chocolate cupcakes with blue pearls and sugar crystals were a real treat!  I just have to mention the hot chocolate on a stick.  I love this!  So simply stated yet so rich and deelish!  Thank you to AmberLee from the the giverslog.com for this fabulous idea and recipe…the kids absolutely went crazy for these!  And of course, the cake.  This cake makes me want to cry!  Shannon did such an amazing job of capturing Alexa from her wavy brown hair down to her pink converse shoes!  I am so lucky to have such a talented partner and friend to work with.  We love the cute little mittens (disco dust) and check out the packages wrapped up for her (disco dust).   Happy birthday to the sweetest little girl and one of the biggest blessings in my life!  You are truly the coolest 9 year old!
